Why you'd want to live in Richmond
Richmond is the state capital of Virginia. It is the only urban setting in the country with a class 3 and 4 rapids running through it. The James River rapids result from the city being on the Fall Line of Virginia where the elevated and rocky Piedmont region changes to the lower and more sedimentary Tidewater Region. The James River flows hard here from the elevation differential and the water being forced into channels. This situation has had many commercial and military advantages throughout history. It also happens to be beautiful and fun. You might see blue herons, bald eagles, ospreys, or deers while rafting on white water right in the middle of the city. There's bustling business and exciting nightlife in the city's many historical and vibrant neighborhoods: Carytown, Church Hill, Shockoe Bottom, and The Fan to name a few.
