Keeping Halloween in Glen Allen the Safest Kind of Mayhem

Halloween in Glen Allen is the one day in every year when the regular order of things gets a thorough shaking up. For one thing, it’s the single day of the year when we expect our doorbell to be ringing non-stop for hours on end. It’s certainly the only time when prudence dictates that we stockpile bowls full of treats to serve as ransom payments against demands for booty from an onslaught of pint-sized masked neighbors.
For Glen Allen’s small fry, if all goes well, Glen Allen’s Halloween ranks right u ...

Why Glen Allen Virginia Deals Follow Halloween

Fa la la la la, la la la la: it’s carol time again!

Not quite? You can’t almost hear those sleigh bells ringing? Well, brace yourself. Halloween is next Tuesday—and nowadays, that means that by Wednesday, holiday advertising will be with us for the duration.

Whether we admit it or not, the Thanksgiving start of the holiday season is a thing of the past. Hallmark has already launched its “Countdown to Christmas;” Glen Allen mailboxes are filling with gift catalogs; store windows are only weeks away from being transformed into snow-sprayed winter wonderlands.

As far as Glen Allen real estate is concerned, a couple of the advantages to buying during the holiday season will arrive more or less simultaneously. And there are advantages.

One real estate education company, FortuneBuilders, counts five key reasons why “the holidays are a great time to buy.” In short, they are:

    1. Limited inventory. Less activit ...

Glen Allen Real Estate’s Unlikely New Player: Amazon.com

Amazon has invaded the realm of real estate—but you couldn’t say it’s happening in a big way.
It’s happening in a tiny way.
Last week the improbable news arrived that the web’s 400-pound gorilla had made its first foray into the realm of real estate. Since Glen Allen real estate (like all real estate) is by definition local, its very nature would seem to preclude the buying and selling of homes as a mail order enterprise. But since Amazon.com has succeeded in other industries where failure had been assumed (high-end fashion, for instance), could local Glen Allen real estate soon be monopolized by a tsunami of Amazon Prime home sales? At least it warranted some looking into!
It turned out that Glen Allen real estate was not likely to be overcome anytime soon. The Amazon listings that showed up are hard to find, and not likely to tempt many Glen ...

Midlothian Real Estate Inspections Needn’t Spark Jitters

As worrisome physical symptoms go, house inspection jitters should not be worrisome in the least. Neither Midlothian home buyers or their counterparts (Midlothian home sellers) need be troubled if they find themselves awaiting the house inspector with mounting anxiety: these are perfectly normal symptoms. My advice echoes HGTV’s prescription for a “Drama-Free Real Estate Rx”—in their words, “Don’t Freak Out.”
The utter normalcy for pre-inspection jitters is indisputable—as is their cause. If you are the seller, you can be perfectly satisfied that you have done everything possible to ensure that your Midlothian home is in tip-top shape, and yet be aware that some totally unknown malady (that only a sharp-eyed house inspector could ever uncover) might be lurking. If you are the buyer, you’ve found the house you’ve been search ...

Future Glen Allen Homeowners & Down Payment Misinformation

It turns out that the run of admirable national and Glen Allen home sales advances have been pulled off despite a couple of strong countercurrents. At least that’s the theme that emerges from last month’s Aspiring Home Buyers Profile report, which supplied one obvious and one not-so-obvious widespread beliefs among would-be future homeowners.
Glen Allen home buyers are always a mix of current homeowners (who will usually also be selling) and first-timers. Among the latter group, a major drag on their willingness and ability to invest in their own Glen Allen home is the student debt phenomenon. Enough has been written about that in recent years that it’s hardly a surprise: 39% of non-owners cited student loan payments as a primary reason they weren’t planning on being able to buy anytime soon.
Much less expected is the proportion of current non-owners who ...
